Data
A friend's cat died today and it reminded me of my cat Data, who died a year ago (the 19th). I thought of posting something about him, then thought better of it, but now ... I've been reading a book by James Alison - Knowing Jesus. There's a part in the beginning where he talks about what it's like when you have a relationship with someone and they die. He says the relationship's over because it's no longer mutaul ... that idea makes me sad.

Data looks soooo much like my all-time favorite cat, King, who died several years ago. He was the most loving cat I've ever encountered. Data looks like he was a lover as well.

I don't care what anybody else says, I think there will be animals in Heaven. Who's to say that Humans are G-d's favorite creatures anyway?
I wouldn't for a minute continue to beleiev that your relationship with that cute cat is over.
I think the whole 'communion of saints' idea means that the relationship with those who have died is most definately not over...just changed maybe.
Now sure this is a cat and not a person, but one of my Franciscan profs (of course) was a firm believer that all creatures would share in the Kingdom to come, pointing out often that it is all of creation that Christ redeemed and that it is all of creation (every plant, animal and person) that is invited to the banquet.
We have on old grouchy cat and a young hyper beagle and lost a beloved, surprisingly affectionate bunny a few years ago. If I love them as much as I know I do, how could God, who's love far out-paces mine, love them any less?
Hmm..sci-fi lover? Is this a Star Trek inspired name?

yes, I named him after Mr. Data, becuse he was so sweet and affectionate, which I guess doesn't make sense, as Data was an android. I hope animals will be there too ... everything that was created, except ants :-)

yes, it was very helpful - thanks! In fact, I finished it, and just sold it a couple of days ago, to someone in Torrance. Did I mention that I sell my used books, DVDs, and CDs at Amazon? It helps me to not feel so guilty about buying them :-)
I like the picture. I am sure that we will meet our pets on the other side. And you know why? I cannot imagine that something can prevent Tzutzu, my cat, from terrorize me.:-)(He bites!)

Data used to bite me too ... I called him "the nibbler" :-)

Now Tzutzu is with my parents, so I see him when I visit them. My mom use to say that she will send it to me if he gets too cheeky (i mean if he bites too much).
